Despite moral and biological taboos, memories of the war still echoed in the minds of those who remained. Survivors sought to avoid repeating the catastrophic event that threatened their entire existence, seeking to create a new human subspecies of the two genetically different worlds to better handle the rigors of space and colonization. The civil war that results leads to the death of 8 billion people. The earth, very dependent on the resources of Mars, refused to allow Martian independence in retaliation Mars boycotts Earth of all but the most vital resources. Earth governments began to thwart the independence of Mars for genetic and policy reasons. Mars and Earth began a slow and gradual drift that would culminate in Mars asserting its independence from Earth. After several centuries, most of the companies are operating land on Mars, which allowed the Earth to recover. The narration begins with the terraforming and colonization of Mars, due to the ever-growing environmental catastrophes, burgeoning overpopulation of earth and drive of political unification by the entire planet.

I always enjoy something that gets me thinking, but this did more for me than just get me thinking. I can't articulate effectively just how much I feel about this, but I can say that I invested in it, and it also invested in me. They were both so well developed throughout the entirety of this, and I found myself so invested in this world, this posh world of absinthe and cocaine and whiskey. The plot was so rich, and the characters so complex. At one point, I was so upset that I went for a run to cool off. It inspired me to write and it had me screaming and throwing tantrums because it made me feel. There's a kind of suspended reality, but there's also the sense that this could be happening right now. There's no way everyone could've loved this so much." But I was wrong, because this made me feel more than any other story has before. I had heard about this before and thought, "200k+ words? No way. Y&B was written despite busy schedules and featured a one of a kind plot and nearly 600 pages of pure gold. And that restores my love for stories and the written word because here is someone who is doing this with no obligation to finish and no tangible reward. To think that someone wrote this not for monetary gain, but to tell a story, is amazing to me. But this one? Perfection, save for the occasional grammatical error here and there. In all honesty, there are some terribly written fanfics out there. There's a huge stigma that fanfiction isn't literature, and I agree to some degree.
At eighteen, Prince is a young man who shoulders a lot of responsibilities, and he handles them with grace. His five-year-old brother, Mook, is adorable, but since their father isn’t around, Prince does his best to be a male role model to him. His mother has MS and was abandoned by his father after she was diagnosed, so it falls to Prince to help her around the house. Prince does this despite intense demands on this time. Callers call in and “DJ Love Jones” gives them his thoughts about and suggestions for dealing with their thorny relationship dilemmas. His show, the Love Radio, is a mix of music and relationship advice. Prince Jones is only a high school senior and already a radio DJ in a Detroit station (his uncle helped him get the job after he’d had him on as a guest and the audience loved him). A bit gimmicky (a high school boy tries to get a girl to fall in love with him in three dates) but fresher than many these days–no rivals to lovers, no fake dating–so I requested the ARC. I don’t t recall how your debut Young Adult novel came to my attention, but I liked the eye-catching cover and the premise sounded interesting. While this series has much in common with Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series - mythological figures and creatures, fast paced action and battles - the heroes of Scott's series, twins Josh and Sophie Newman are fifteen, almost sixteen and these books are considered YA (young adult.) I decided to give this book a middle grade rating after reading the first book and summaries of the next five books in the series. It's long been on my list of books to read, especially since, as a bookseller, I noticed a large number of adult flocking to this series and raving about it. I purchased this book when it came out almost six years ago and my daughter read and enjoyed it. And, the first five books are in paperback with book Six, The Enchantress, coming out in paperback in May of 2013. So, if, like me, you are late to this party, the good news is that you don't have to wait a year for each book in the series to be written. Last year, the sixth and final book in this series was published. The Alchemyst : The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel by Michael Scott was published in 2007, the same year as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. When he's given the chance to help out a friend who once had his back when others didn't, he jumps at the chance to repay the favor. Even if he wanted out, it's far too late for that. Dealing in secrets and death means there's always someone waiting around the next corner trying to either take his place or bury their secrets along with his body. With a bone deep hatred of all things government, Vincent found another way to serve his country, but it too came at a steep cost that he never could have foreseen. And a man with nothing to live for has nothing to lose. After the military he was practically born into decided his sexuality was more important than his impeccable service record, Vincent lost everything, including the man he'd planned to spend the rest of his life with. James has learned to live with the choices he's made, even if he isn't always proud of them. *New cover 11/2019, no new content* All I ever wanted was to serve and protect my country. But questions begin to haunt them as the date draws nearer. They can pretend a little longer-until after the wedding. How can they spoil her joy with their announcement? But at the family meeting where they plan to tell their children, Nicole shares a surprise of her own: she's getting married. In fact, they're waiting for the right time to tell the kids they're going to divorce. But John and Abby know they're just pretending to be happy. John and Abby Reynolds are the perfect couple-envied by their friends, cherished by their children, admired by their peers. Now a Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel event, A Time to Dance is a powerful story of the resilience of love. Politically, Silistra is part of the Bipedal Federation, a polity dominated by the technologically advanced merchant planet M'ksakka, which is also the de facto suzerain of Silistra. In time, the Wells attracted men from various planets and virtually turned into brothels, while women who manage the Wells founded aristocratic lineages named Well-Keepresses that form a peculiar matriarchy. The planet is administratively divided into city-states founded around procreation centres named Wells that were originally introduced by the Day-Keepers as a solution to Silistra's infertility problem. Silistra is ruled by a theocratic caste named the Day-Keepers who control the planet by monopoly on technical and divine knowledge and through a brutal police force named the Slayers. Infertility is one of the worst problems facing the planet's populace-thanks to the fallout of that deadly war. Silistra is a post-apocalyptic planet devastated by a war that forced its populace to go into underground shelters for centuries and, even many centuries later, the planet has not recovered. The series went on to have more than four million copies in print and was also published in French, Italian and German. Published in 1977 by Bantam Books, High Couch of Silistra was the debut title of her writing career. High Couch of Silistra (renamed as Returning Creation for the integral edition of the series) is a science fiction novel, the first book in the Silistra quartet by American writer Janet Morris. |
